Ruby Wright is a formidable illustrator, artist and writer. As with all the people I talk to she has had a journey to arrive where she is. Ruby studied sculpture, worked at the BBC and tried her hand at printmaking and then with her love of drawing and making characters she embarked on a career in picture books.

What is great about instagram live is that Ruby can show us the books she has made including Animal Crackers and Invisible Dogs whilst we talk about the unique way she works.

Ruby tells stories, even in her constant sketching of quotidian life. They are full of the joys and problems of being a family and I love them. She also reminds us to embrace the spontaneity of imperfection.
