CREATIVE BOOST with writer and zoologist Lucy Cooke

I have been enjoying Lucy Cooke’s book ‘Bitch’, which I honestly think everyone should read as it revolutionises how we think about animals. From self aborting monkeys, to fighting female topis, male frogs holding tadpoles in their mouth and significantly that King Julian from the film ‘Madagascar’ wouldn’t exist as in real-life Madagascar the ring tail lemurs’ leader is a queen.

‘Bitch’ gives you an alternative view of the natural world where female creatures are every bit as promiscuous, competitive and aggressive as males.

This talk is a bit about Cooke’s brilliant books. I also wanted to find out how Lucy makes her creativity work happen. The research, the talking to scientists all over the world, the understanding, the composing. How does she create, write, present and perform? How does she structure her working life to come up with the clear sighted, beautifully written and funny books that open our eye to serious scientific analysis with a thoughtful, engaging and fun approach. We look at all this in her wonderful CREATIVE BOOST.
