3 Stories Up

2012

Stories, dribbles of thoughts on domestic life. Made significant by scouring , waxing, scraping, immersing, dusting, washing, coating, covering, dipping, squashing, and revealing.
To Burrill copper etching is a cooking process. The copper plates are scoured with the whiting, which in the past was used to clean copper pots and pans. This combination of messiness and precision is a recipe for disaster, yet the laborious nature gives time for contemplation and immersion. Process and practice results in copper pressed proudly onto paper to produce a solid un-shifting drawing. A distillation. Etching and domestic life are sometimes similar exhilarating yet infuriating. With ‘3 Stories Up’ subject and process weld together.
